GOD SHARES HIS LIFE
"WITH US"
Jesus gave us the Church and the Sacraments so we would be able to share in God's life.
Jesus is with us in the Liturgy
Whenever we gather at church, Jesus is with us.
The word Liturgy literally means work of the people. Within the Catholic Church it is used to describe all the public acts of worship that take place. It draws all of us into the work of God.
It is an action, not a thing, and something we all have an important role in, not just the priest.
Jesus is with us in the Sacraments
The sacraments are celebrations of God's love and presence that provide us with his grace.
The sacraments are celebrations of God's love and presence that provide us with his grace.
The strict definition of a sacrament is
“an outward sign instituted by Christ to give grace.”
What does that mean?

Transubstantiation.
We call this His "Real Presence"
The MASS is the highest form of worship.
The Mass has many names, including:

A Quick Review.
There are 7 SACRAMENTS:
Baptism
Eucharist
Confirmation
Penance
Anointing of the Sick
Marriage
Holy Orders
Sacraments of Initiation
Baptism
Eucharist
Confirmation
Baptism
In Baptism we receive new life in Christ. Baptism takes away original sin and gives us a new birth in the Holy Spirit. Its sign is the pouring of water.
Eucharist
The Eucharist nourishes our life of faith. Its signs are the bread and wine we receive—the Body and Blood of Christ.
Confirmation
Confirmation seals our life of faith in Jesus. Its signs are the laying on of hands on a person’s head, most often by a bishop, and the anointing with oil. Like Baptism, Confirmation is received only once.
