We Are Called by Name

The custom of being named is traditionally associated with Baptism, because Baptism
is all about your identity; who you are and what you want to become.

In the Bible, there are many stories when God intervenes in a person’s life, and thatperson is given a new name.

In the Old Testament, Abram became Abraham, and his wife Sarai became Sarah.Jacob received the name Israel.

In the New Testament, Jesus called Simon by a new name – Peter; And after hisconversion, Saul of Tarsus was called Paul.

Baptism is a very significant moment in the life of a Christian. A new life is beginning

We Are God's Children

At your Baptism you are given a special name. Sometimes it is the name or some form of a saint’s name; perhaps the name of an Old Testament person. The name given atBaptism does not have to be a saint’s name.

At your Baptism the Priest or Deacon calls you by name, and we are Baptized “In thename of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

The Priest or Deacon makes the sign of the Cross on your forehead, which is a signthat you belong to God.

God calls us to happiness with him and he promises us His Grace. He wants us to beHis children, He chooses us, and He wants us to love Him and each other.

PARENTS: During the week, bless your child by signing him or her with the sign of the Cross each day at a convenient time for both of you.

A sharing in God’s own life (God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense).

An outward sign that comes from Jesus and gives us grace.

The sacrament that makes a person a child of God. It takes away original sin and allpersonal sin, and makes the person a temple of the Holy Sprirt.

As a family, read this bible passage from Isaiah

Isaiah – Chapter 43:1-4

International Children’s Bible

Now this is what the Lord says.
He created you, people of Jacob.
He formed you, people of Israel.
He says, “Don’t be afraid, because I have saved you.
I have called you by name, and you are mine.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.
When you cross rivers, you will not drown.
When you walk through fire, you will not be burned.
The flames will not hurt you.

This is because I, the Lord, am your God.
I, the Holy One of Israel, am your Savior.
I gave Egypt to pay for you.
I gave Cush and Seba to make you mine.

You are precious to me.
I give you honor, and I love you.
So I will give other people in your place.
I will give other nations to save your life.

In this happy presentation, Brother Francis invites us to share in the realities of the Sacrament of Baptism and the union it provides us with God's big family!

God, our Father, thank you for calling us to be your children.

We know your love, and we

Send your Holy Spirit to help us love and care for everything
you have created.

We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus.         Amen.

Message From God

Remember to work on memorizing your prayers!

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.

Grace Before Meals

Bless us O Lord, and these thy gifts,
Which we are about to receive, from thy bounty,
Through Christ, Our Lord.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Angels watch me through the night,
And wake me with the morning light.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Act of Contrition

Kids Version

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.

In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.

I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.

In his name, my God, have mercy.
