Session 5

SUGGESTION: There are 3 main parts to this lesson.  Do not try to finish them all in one sitting.  Break them up over the course of the next few weeks.

PART 1

As we start our lesson...sit quietly for a moment...take a few deep breaths...    make the "Sign of the Cross" and slowly read the Prayer.

(Found on page 53 in workbook)

God, our loving Father, thank you for all the ways you bless me. Help me to be aware that every person, place, and adventure I experience is an opportunity to love you more. Fill me with a desire to change and to grow, and give me the grace to become the-best-version-of-myself in every moment of every day.

Amen.

In this episode, Hemingway helps Ben settle a disagreement between Jessica and Max.  As you watch be on the lookout for how many types of prayer there are.  See how many you can count.

How far is God willing to go to show us he loves us? Sarah answers that question through the Creed, a summary of the core beliefs that make up our Catholic faith.

There are a lot of big words in the Creed we say at Mass.  For now, it's important that you know the Creed is a prayer that lists 12 major items we as Catholics believe.  We recite it at each mass to remind ourselves of what we believe AND to do it together as a community of people that believe the same things.

You will learn more about all the beliefs written into the Creed as you continue to grow in your faith.

In this episode, Hemingway finds a secret passage way in the clubhouse.

At the end of an unexpected adventure involving a secret tunnel, scared Tiny, and lost Hemingway, Sarah receives a gift and a powerful challenge from her mom.

Over and over throughout the Bible God speaks to people, guiding them, encouraging them, and warning them. He spoke to Adam and Eve, Moses and Abraham, Noah and Jacob, Rebecca and Ruth, Mary and Paul.

God spoke to each of them in different ways, but he spoke to them all.

And now, God wants to speak to you.

Do you have a bible in your house?

Do you know where it is?

At the end of the video, Sarah asks her mother to read the Bible story about the Lost Coin.

Remember to work on memorizing your prayers!

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Grace Before Meals

Bless us O Lord, and these thy gifts,
Which we are about to receive, from thy bounty,
Through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.

Lord's Prayer

Our Father, Who art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Bedtime Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
Angels watch me through the night,
And wake me with the morning light.

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace.
The Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Act of Contrition

Kids Version

My God, I am sorry for my sins with all my heart.

In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against you whom I should love above all things.

I firmly intend, with your help, to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin.

Our Savior Jesus Christ suffered and died for us.

In his name, my God, have mercy.

Amen.
